Let’s Go to the Sports Bar
Spending a Sunday afternoon at your favorite sports bar is one of the greatest parts of the football season. Not only can you watch your favorite team, but most sports bars today have multiple televisions set up so that you can watch every game that’s on. Some even have little speakers at your table so you can hear the broadcast, too. If you’re sick of people coming over to your house and forcing you to play host to the party every weekend, maybe it’s time that you moved the party over to the closest sports bar and let them handle the food and drinks.
Move the Party
No longer will you need to waste your time going up to the store to buy snacks and beer every Sunday morning. Now, you can hop in your car and drive down the street to the bar, make sure there are a few tables reserved for you, and that the food keeps coming. Plus, a sports bar will never run out of drinks. The downside is that you might have to pay a bit more than you would if you bought your own food and drinks for home, but this is the premium on convenience. There’s no prep work by you and even better, there’s no clean up to worry about after the games are over. Also, you will find yourself meeting new people every weekend, which will give you a lot more variety from week to week than you’re used to. You will definitely notice that it’s a much different atmosphere than just hanging out in the mancave, and this is usually a very welcome change.
Party with a Purpose
Another cool thing about watching the games with your friends is that if you have a common interest, or even conflicting interests, your Sunday get togethers suddenly take on a new meaning.
Of course we’re talking about fantasy football here.
If you and a bunch of the guys are all in a league together, watching the games is a lot more fun, just because you all have a vested interest in the game and you are all competing against each other. It makes cheering on your roster a lot more interesting, and it creates a whole new dynamic among your group. It doesn’t matter if you are playing in a season long league or a daily fantasy football league, the end result is the same. A group of friends competing with each other—with or without cash on the line—is a very interesting setting. It’s also really fun. You don’t have to go to the sports bar to do this since you could technically all just sit in front of your computers and do it from there. Going out on the town with your buddies is always a lot better than sitting around the house by yourself, though.
Keep it Going
If you are hanging out at your home or apartment, eventually you will want people to start heading out the door. Even your best friends can overstay their welcome, unfortunately. When you’re out, you can leave whenever you want, or a few others can leave and you can stay. It doesn’t matter. This way, nobody is at risk of staying too long, and that goes for you, too. If all your friends have left and you want to stay for the last game of the night, you can do it without causing an issue for anyone. It’s a win-win for everyone and you never have to worry about that one annoying friend that can never take a hint that they need to leave right now.
You can also compete in daily fantasy with your friends. There are tons of ways to do this. If you are part of Draftkings or Fanduel, this can be setup easily. If you can commit to it, the games each week will be more fun on Sunday. This part of the software these sites have added has a made a huge difference. Come see for yourself if this is something that will help you enjoy these games more.
Enjoy the Amenities
Face it, the bar is cooler than your house. They have darts and a pool table. They might even have better video games than you could ever get. That’s just how it is. So, why not take advantage of that? If you are a fan of these things (and who isn’t?), Sundays during the football season are a great excuse for going out and enjoying them.
And unless you’re a five star chef, the bar definitely has better food than you can make on your own. Whether you want burgers or wings, pizza or fries, the bar makes food for a living. Also, they probably have a wider range of drinks than you do. Going out and buying a couple cases of beer is great, but what about that one guy that always wants the fancy expensive beer? Now, he can buy his own. That’s another big plus of going out for the games. In fact, if you do it right, you can probably spend even less going out than if you were buying food for everyone each weekend. Now, you just have to worry about taking care of yourself.
Regardless of why you do it, the sports bar is an awesome way to get out of the house and enjoy your friends and some football once in a while.
